Brett Redden leads the recruitment and retention of family physicians and allied healthcare providers for the Family Health Team in Marathon, a rural Northwestern Ontario town. Originally from St. John’s, Newfoundland, he is a veteran recruiter with nearly 10 years of experience and the only CASPR member who is also a Canadian PGA Golf Professional. If that’s not impressive enough, he is a Registered Massage Therapist!
Brett likes to keep active in his spare time with badminton, tennis, fishing, ATVing, skidooing and of course, golfing. His strongest passion is travel – experiencing different cultures, meeting new people, and eating foods representative of the locale. He and his family have visited Costa Rica (his favourite place to vacation), France, Germany, Malta, and the US. Plans to tour Australia and Tanzania are on the post-pandemic horizon.
As a CASPR mentor, Brett coaches novice recruitment professionals that belong to the CASPR membership.
“I wish I would have branched out more and built a wider support network when I first started in the role, so I am happy to be that resource for someone else,” tells Brett. He also advises fellow recruiters to adopt an entrepreneurial mentality.
“Recruitment is not a Monday-to-Friday job that ends at 5pm. It’s truly a customer service role and there are lots of after-hours calls, events, and correspondence. Treat it as if it’s your business and keep a positive and patient mindset.”
