Any experience with virtual site visits?

Hi all – during Covid-19 (and otherwise), do you have any experience putting on virtual site visits? Ex: Live tours of healthcare facilities; meetings with realtors/tours; meetings with community members; touring around communities, etc? Would love to hear how provinces are going about putting on these virtual site visit experiences in light of current travel restrictions.

Thanks!

-Sheila

Hi Sheila - I saw most of the U.S. presentation and they did Zoom meetings, but also were able to ask real estate agents to provide virtual tours of homes and community reps to drive around town, pointing out hotspots, either livestream or recorded. They also did a neat thing where they ordered a nice meal and had it delivered in real time during a 'virtual dinner meeting' by a meal service.

We just completed our first one! Several meetings arranged over zoom, a talk/presentation regarding their area of expertise was arranged over zoom...a bit awkward but it did work. Fortunately for us, this candidate has been to Kingston previously so we didn't worry about a tour at this point. We do have 3 other candidates who "interviewed" over zoom and have asked for a tour once the restrictions are lifted.

Thanks, Jennifer! We conduct interviews via Zoom for any out-of-province candidates, but was more interested in the virtual site visits/tours for candidates unfamiliar with our province. Best, -Sheila

Hello Sheila, I tried to respond with more details but my response was too long. I haven't personally, but did you attend the COVID presentation from MAPRA that CASPR invited people to? If not, I can give you some notes on what they are doing in the states that sounds exciting. snoel@southernhealth.ca
