Hospital covered Accommodations

Hi everyone,
We are looking into utilizing a rental property for locum physicians (covered by the hospital). Does anyone have any advice on this, what has worked well, lessons learned?

Thank you!
Shannon

Hi Shannon, We have an apartment that we rent (at a discounted rate) from one of our Foundation's donors. It is mainly used for medical students and residents here on training, however we do allow locum docs to use it if it's available. The Foundation pays the rent monthly, and we get reimbursed by ERMEP for students, or the hospital for locums. It is fully furnished, including bed linens and towels, and is just 2 blocks from the hospital. Hope this helps but if you have other questions, please feel free to email me pmason@docsbythebay.ca

Hi Shannon, we cover rental expenses all the time for most locums but especially for our salaried physicians. The rental we automatically pay but any damages are at the expense of the physician. The rentals units have a contract which the physician signs as we sing but only as the payee of the rental only and nothing more. Hope this helps. Denise
