What conferences do you attend regionally, provincially, nationally, internationally? The Communications Committee was asked to gather information relating to up coming conferences for new recruiters. We want to hear from all of you as to which conference(s) you attend, the link to their site, and dates if possible. We would like to create a listing for those who are looking into conferences to attend. Family Medicine, Specialty, Etc. Such as your Local Family Medicine Resident Retreat, University Job Fair, the Family Medicine Forum, Society of Rural Physicians of Canada, Outside of Quebec Career Day, British Medical Journal etc.

In NB, the ones we attend as a province, depending on the year are: Family Medicine Forum (FMF – https://fmf.cfpc.ca/), Canadian Association of Emergency Physician (CAEP – https://caep.ca/), Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society (CAS Annual Meeting – http://www.casconference.ca/en/), The Review Course (CCFP – https://www.thereviewcourse.com/), Outside Quebec Career Day (FMRQ – http://www.journeecarrierehorsquebec.ca/pages/view/3/lang:eng), Dalhousie Family Medicine Residents Education Weekend job Fair (put on by the Department of Family Medicine at Dalhousie University – their link is – https://medicine.dal.ca/departments/department-sites/family/our-people/contact-us.html), The Annual Rural and Remote Medicine Course (The Society of Rural Physicians of Canada – https://www.srpc.ca/). Depending on need, some of us may also attend other ones such as Neurology, Pathology, Psychiatry, etc.

There are multiple other events we attend as a team which are events planned by the Department of Health where we go to all of the Medical schools; Moncton, Saint John, Dalhouise, Memorial, Sherbrooke, McGill and Montreal and meet with the residents and students. We do this annually. For the Moncton and Saint John Medical Schools, we meet with every level medical learner, Med 1 to MEd 4 followed by meeting with the R1-R2.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind regards,
Denise

Hi Jane, can you please tell me what your thoughts are on the OCFP ASA event and whether you have had success at it? Thanks, Paula

Being somewhat new to my role here in Prince Edward Island, I’d also love to hear some feedback on this topic!
Cindy – in terms of your reference to Queen’s, UofT, McMaster, Ottawa, and UWO, are these job fairs specific to the medical schools or are they university (general) annual job fairs you attend?
