Alberta Health Services, Central Zone, is actively recruiting a Family Medicine Physician to establish a full-time Family Medicine practice in the community of Viking. This position requires a scope of practice that includes: On call coverage for ER shits (1 in 4), management of acute care patients, continuing care patients as well as community clinic. Low risk obstetrics would be encouraged but not required.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Reside in and have their primary residence within the community of Viking;
- Establish and maintain full time community based practice within the community;
- Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the Services;
- Provide call assistance as per call schedules, including full time participation in the Emergency Department call schedule (shared in equal proportions generally 72-96h/month), On-call physician provides after hour coverage to the Acute Care and LTC as required;
- Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies;
- Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Department of Family Medicine;
- Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs;
- Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities, as assigned;
- Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care;

Required Qualifications:
- Have or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (required with application);
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS);
- Pediatric Life Support (PALS);
- Recent and relevant experience in all areas of practice required;
Desired Qualifications:
- Certificate of the College of Family Physicians (CCFP);
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS);
Compensation:
- Fee for service
- On Call Stipend – Physicians are remunerated for being on call
- Alberta Medical Association (AMA) Compensation Programs – AMA Membership compensation programs are under review and may be subject to change.
