Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is seeking a full time General (AP/CP) Pathologist or Anatomic Pathologist at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital (MHRH) located in the city of Medicine Hat, Alberta. The successful candidate will be joining the four laboratory pathologists currently at MHRH. Medicine Hat Regional Hospital (MHRH) has 325 beds providing patient-centered care in south-eastern Alberta offering a full range of healthcare services, including a 24/7 Level 3 Trauma Center emergency department, acute care, intensive care and neonatal intensive care, kidney care clinic, cardio-respiratory services, and more. MHRH is home to the Margery E. Yuill Cancer Centre.
APL is a multi-site, province-wide laboratory organization providing comprehensive laboratory services and is an independent, but publicly funded organization that is a wholly owned subsidiary of Alberta Health Services (AHS). APL has approximately 289 pathologists, with multiple areas of sub-specialties, and connected provincially and working collaboratively as a large team.

Job Summary & Responsibilities
Duties include general pathology or anatomic pathology case sign out, with some consultation in blood bank, hematology, accession, and point of care services, cytopathology, intradepartmental and interdepartmental consultations, and frozen section. General Pathologists must maintain the highest possible standards of practice including prompt delivery of services to match established key performance indicators and provincial metrics, must actively participate in quality assurance and quality improvement programs, must provide departmental 1:4 on call coverage as required, and must actively participate in undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate medical teaching.
Qualifications
Qualifications include an MD, with eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta, and certification in General Pathology (AP/CP) or Anatomic Pathology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology.

Compensation
Remuneration range for a Pathologist in Alberta is $364,597.00 to $424,123.00. Starting remuneration is commensurate with the level of training and experience. Relocation assistance is provided.
