Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) is looking for Anesthesiologists who hold a fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and are eligible for an Independent or Restricted CPSO license are encouraged to apply. Subspecialty training is not required. This is a full-time position, working 40hrs+ per week.

Job Duties:

• Provide pre-anesthetic consultations
• Provide anesthesia for surgical and endoscopic procedures
• Provide epidurals for those in labour
• Take equal part in anesthesia call to provide emergency anesthesia services including intubations
• Take part in the pre-surgical anesthesia consult clinic
• Fluency in English is required

Surgical Program Highlights:

• 14,000+ surgical procedures (including endoscopy) annually
• 7 ORs and 2 Endoscopy Suites equipped with the latest technology
• Sedation for ERCPs
• Full time Anesthesia Assistant in the OR
• Approximately 850 newborn deliveries annually (24/7 epidural service)
• Pre-Anesthesia clinic run by the department

Schedule and Compensation:

• ORs and Endoscopy Suites run Monday to Friday from 0800-1500.
• Physicians will be given shifts in the OR or Endoscopy Unit four days a week and one day in the in-hospital Anesthesia Consult Clinic a week
• Cases are equitably shared to ensure optimization of fee-for-service payments for all
• Compensation is through a Fee-for-Service Model. Physicians keep 100% of all OHIP billings and can expect to Bill within a range of $1400-$2000 per day of work

Hospital Call:

• Approximately 1 in 6 (24-hour call)
• Each call shift earns a $547.32 HOCC stipend
• In-hospital call not required (remain within 20-minute radius of hospital)
• Call is scheduled established by the Department
