Permanent Full-Time Radiologist Practice Opportunities

Join Northeastern Ontario’s healthcare leader

The Department of Medical Imaging at Health Sciences North (HSN) is actively seeking Radiologists with fellowship training in Women’s Imaging and/or Diagnostic Neuroradiology to join our team in full-time, permanent roles. As the designated tertiary care referral centre for the entire Northeastern Ontario region, HSN serves a catchment area of over 600,000 residents. Our department provides a dynamic and medically diverse environment, offering flexible scheduling and exceptional opportunities for both personal and professional growth.

The Medical Imaging Department at HSN uses state of the art equipment to perform both diagnostic and interventional procedures, allowing patients of Northeastern Ontario access closer to home.

Women’s Imaging Position Overview: The successful candidate will play a key role in Women’s Imaging at Health Sciences North (HSN), a leading tertiary breast screening centre. Responsibilities will include participation in a comprehensive breast imaging program, which performs over 15,000
digital screening and diagnostic mammograms annually. As a designated Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) High Risk site, the department conducts approximately 200 breast MRI exams each year, along with 100 stereotactic and over 300 ultrasound-guided core biopsies.

The candidate will also support HSN’s role as a regional referral centre for gynecological and obstetrical imaging within the North East LHIN. This includes interpreting a growing volume of pelvic MRIs, particularly with the expansion of the Women’s Imaging MRI program supported by the recent
installation of a Siemens 3T VIDA MRI scanner.

Diagnostic Neuroradiology Position Overview: The successful candidate will contribute to the Diagnostic Neuroradiology team at Health Sciences North (HSN), managing a high-volume practice that includes approximately 15,000 CT scans of the brain, head & neck, and spine, as well as 10,000
MRI exams annually.

HSN serves as a regional stroke center with an on-site Endovascular Thrombectomy (EVT) program, providing critical neuroimaging support for acute stroke care. The role involves interpreting a wide range of neuroradiology studies with a focus on timely and accurate diagnosis to support urgent clinical decision-making.

These opportunities provide the chance to join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team within a growing imaging department that prioritizes exceptional patient care and diagnostic precision.

Average compensation for Radiologists with subspecialisation in Woman’s Imaging and/or Neuroradiology ranges from $400,000-$500,000 per year via fee-for-service billings through the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).

Clinical Radiology services are provided at the HSN Main Site, located at 41 Ramsey Lake Rd., Sudbury, as well as the Sudbury Outpatient Clinic (SOC), located at 865 Regent Street, Sudbury.

Candidates must possess a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from a recognized medical school and must have successfully completed an accredited residency program, and hold specialty certification in Diagnostic Radiology. Additional training in Women’s Imaging and/or Neuroradiology is required.
Applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).

The successful applicant will be expected to obtain a faculty appointment with NOSM-University (NOSM-U) and support the academic mandate of the Department of Medical Imaging. Research opportunities are also available through the Health Sciences North Research Institute (HSNRI).
