The Opportunity

Peterborough Regional Health Centre is looking for a
Psychiatrist to support our adult outpatient program (AOP).
AOP is a multidisciplinary program, emphasizing a teambased approach to psychiatric care of individuals with
moderate – severe persistent mental illness. We offer a Rapid Assessment Program (RAP), an Urgent Care Clinic (UCC),
Complex Trauma/Emotional Regulation and Mood-Anxiety Streams, with a range of evidence based individual and group psychotherapies, along with Neurofeedback supported by our psychology service.
Our program has a 24-bed adult inpatient unit, supported by full-time social work, occupational therapy, psychology and therapeutic programming.
A six-bed Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Unit (CAPU) provides a regional service for children and adolescents
with serious mental health concerns requiring assessment and stabilization.
A 12-bed geriatric Assessment Behavioural Unit (GABU) provides care for older adults with dementia and
behavioral disturbances.
PRHC also has a three-bed Crisis Response Unit (CRU) located in the Emergency Department, with nursing staff
providing 24-hour crisis assessments and monitoring. Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) and Four
Counties Addictions Services Team (Fourcast) staff are located on the unit and provide short-term case management for patients living in the community.

Full-time permanent opportunities available
A multidisciplinary consultation-liaison service provides inpatient consultations and ongoing liaison across
medical and surgical units.
We offer a diverse range of outpatient mental health programs across all stages of life, which includes evidence based individual and group psychotherapies, outreach services and psychiatric management. Subspecialty
clinics include Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI); Psychosis Assessment and Treatment Clinic; Eating Disorder Program;

Psychiatric Assessment Services for the Elderly (PASE) and the
Family and Youth Clinic. A satellite Developmental Disabilities
Consulting Program (DDCP) affiliated with Queens University
is available through our outpatient program.

Psychological testing is also available for inpatients and
outpatient services.

Our Neurostimulation Program includes Electroconvulsive
Therapy (ECT) with plans to introduce repetitive Transcranial
Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) in 2022.

Our department is a designated teaching site for trainees at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, affiliated through Queens and McMaster University and University of Toronto, with opportunities for faculty appointments.
Remuneration is via fee-for-service billing to the Ontario
Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), Sessionals, and HOCC.
Minimum expected annual earnings for a full-time practicing
Psychiatrist working at our hospital and in our region is $300,000-$450,000. Benefits are not applicable for this position.
Language of work is English.

Position Qualifications:

• Applicants must hold, or be eligible to obtain, licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). A clear and viable pathway to licensure must be established at the time of application.

• Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or equivalent training (e.g., American Board Certification) and eligible for RCPSC assessment.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with physicians, nursing, staff, patients, directors, managers, and the community as required

• Demonstrated analytical ability

• Actively encourage a spirit of co-operation amongst
team members

• Eligible for staff privileges at Peterborough Regional Health Centre

• Evidence of ongoing continued medical education

· Interested or has experience working with complex
developmental trauma and borderline personality disorder
