Recovery Alberta - Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist - Red Deer
Recovery Alberta, Central Zone, and the Department of Addiction & Mental Health, invites applications for the position of a Child & Adolescents Psychiatrist to establish a full time practice in the community of Red Deer. This position requires a scope of practice that includes: Outpatient clinical support including face-to-face and telehealth consulting and ongoing support for outlying areas, Consults and follow-up services to the Community Mental Health clinics in rural communities across the Central Zone, including the Drumheller, Wainwright, and Camrose areas and Support for Mental Health Programs throughout Central Zone is expected.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Reside in and have their primary residence within the community of Red Deer;
- Obtain and maintain a Recovery Alberta Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the Services;
- Abide by the Recovery Alberta Medical Staff Bylaws, the Recovery Alberta Medical Staff Rules and Recovery Alberta policies;
- Establish and maintain full time community based practice within the community;
- Provide call assistance as per call schedules, including full time participation in the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry call schedule, as required;
- Support Mental Health Programs throughout Central Zone;
- Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Zone Clinical Department of Addiction & Mental Health;
- Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs;
- Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities, as assigned;
- Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care
Once chosen, the successful candidate may choose to operate their business by joining an existing independent outpatient practice or form an independent outpatient office of their own. This is the candidate’s independent business decision and will not be managed through the recruitment process.

Required Qualifications:
- Have or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (required with application);
- Have or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification (RCPSC);
- Have sub-specialty certification or equivalent in Child Psychiatry, or currently be enrolled in a Child Psychiatry Residency Program;
- Recent and relevant experience in all areas of practice required, as the Most Responsible Physician;
