Job Description / Duties
The Saskatchewan Health Authority – North East, is seeking an Adult Psychiatrist for permanent and locum work. The successful candidate will possess a strong team approach and join a collegial group practice of Psychiatrists who enjoy a broad scope of practice including outpatients, acute care and shared call responsibilities.

Required Skills
Must hold certification or be eligible for certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada royalcollege.ca
Must be eligible for provisional or regular licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) cps.sk.ca
Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) is required cmpa-acpm.ca
Applicants must have successfully achieved their English Language Proficiency (IELTS) and the Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Exam (MCCEE) as requirements for licensure with the CPSS
In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada
Support with relocation, immigration and community integration is available as well as physician mentorship.

The Victoria Hospital is a regional hospital with 164 acute care beds including an 8 bed intensive care unit that provides services to a population of 80,000 which includes northern and northeastern Saskatchewan. Dubbed “The Gateway to the North”, Prince Albert is in close proximity to a multitude of freshwater lakes and woodlands with outdoor activities for every season. Currently, the following specialty services are provided: •Obstetrics/Gynecology •General Surgery •Radiology •Psychiatry •Ophthalmology •Urology •General Internal Medicine •Anesthesiology •Pathology •ENT

Psychiatry Recruitment and Retention Incentive
Program Overview
The Psychiatry Recruitment and Retention Incentive is available to specialist Psychiatrists providing full time service in qualifying Saskatchewan communities.

Physicians practicing Psychiatry in the regional centres of North Battleford, Yorkton, Swift Current, Moose Jaw, Prince Albert or Lloydminster qualify for up to $200,000:
Year 1 – $40,000 after 12 months of practice
Year 2 – $40,000 after 24 months of practice
Year 3 – $20,000 after 36 months of practice
Year 4 – $50,000 after 48 months of practice
Year 5 – $50,000 after 60 months of practice

Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility will be determined on an annual basis. Eligible physicians will receive their incentive once they have completed the given year of service.

To be eligible for the incentive, physician applicants must meet all the following criteria:
· Establish full time practice on or after June 1, 2023 in an eligible community in Saskatchewan. An eligible community includes:
· Regional Centre Incentive – North Battleford, Yorkton, Swift Current, Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Lloydminster
· Physicians must be new to practice in Saskatchewan. The program applies to Specialist Psychiatrists.
· Must be a Member of Practitioner Staff with the Saskatchewan Health Authority in good standing and hold an active license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.
· Provide 220 service days or more in Psychiatry in the eligible community. Providing less than 220 days of service will not qualify for the incentive.
· Have provided service during at least ten (10) of the previous twelve (12) months of each service.
· To remain eligible, a physician must remain in the same community for each of the 5 years consecutively.
· Physicians providing locum service do not qualify.
· Physicians who relocate within Saskatchewan do not qualify.
· Physicians can only receive the incentive once in a lifetime.

Please note all applicants must meet the above eligibility criteria in a given year to be considered. Eligibility in a given year does not guarantee eligibility in any other year, nor does it guarantee that the program will not be subject to change at any time.

Application
Each physician practicing in Saskatchewan who meets the eligibility criteria will be considered at the end of each year of practice. No application will be required.
