Program Description
Our program provides palliative care consultation with a model that includes continuity of care within the community of Thunder Bay and surrounding region. We are a team of Physicians and Registered Nurses based out of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (acute care) and St. Joseph’s Care Group (hospice and palliative care unit). As a whole, our program offers inpatient services, outpatient clinics, as well as home and community care. We collaborate closely with the interprofessional teams of the Regional Cancer Centre, Ontario Health at Home, and provide telehealth consultations to rural and remote communities throughout Northwestern Ontario.
Call coverage is approximately 1/5 weeks, ensuring consistent support for patients in Thunder Bay and the surrounding region.
Description of Role
We are in search of a physician for a 1.0 FTE as a palliative care consultant at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC) and Regional Cancer Centre (located adjacent to the TBRHSC). The role will consist of a primarily oncology-based palliative care practice. Typical responsibilities involved inpatient palliative care consultation and follow up, and outpatient pain and symptom clinics within the Regional Cancer Centre (up to 4 half-days/week) where both follow up visits and new consultations are seen. The role will also include being a part of the on-call roster which also covers our hospice/palliative care unit. The role is AFP-funded.
