ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

NL Health Services – Eastern Urban Zone invites applications for a permanent full-time Internal Medicine Physician to work exclusively within the Neurology Program at Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s, NL.

The successful candidate will have experience in General Internal Medicine and will serve as an integral member of the Neurology team, providing comprehensive inpatient medical management for patients. Responsibilities include conducting daily ward rounds, delivering inpatient care, coordinating investigations, participating in family meetings, and providing timely assessment and management of patients in close collaboration with the Neurology specialist team.

This is a unique opportunity for a physician with General Internal Medicine expertise to develop a focused inpatient practice within a specialized neurology environment at a provincial tertiary care centre, supporting the delivery of high-quality, multidisciplinary neurological care.

QUALIFICATIONS

Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
Successful completion of a residency in General Internal Medicine
Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada eligibility or certification in Internal Medicine (or equivalent)
Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
Must satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
Interest or experience in neurology considered a strong asset

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide comprehensive inpatient hospitalist care exclusively within the Neurology Program
Conduct daily ward rounds and ward work including arranging investigations and family meetings
Provide availability to review patients during working hours in collaboration with the Neurology specialist team
Provide onsite call coverage as required
Work collaboratively with Neurologists and the broader interdisciplinary Neurology team
Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements

REMUNERATION

Remuneration will be either salaried in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement for salaried physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador, or Fee-For-Service in accordance with the Medical Care Plan (MCP) Payment Schedule, commensurate with level of training and experience. Remuneration model will be discussed and confirmed with the successful candidate.
