  • The annual compensation will be calculated in accordance with the Cancer Care Alberta Physician compensation grid for Medical Oncologists ranging from Level 1 $416,192 per annum to Level 3 $531,341 per annum. Grid placement will be based on qualifications, training, and experience. Annual Compensation is based on the contracted 210 Service days. Note: The Oncologists are eligible for Additional Workload Compensation during the position’s vacancies in Cancer Care Alberta. Additional support from Cancer Care Alberta: CCA provides a recruitment support incentive that includes the following conditional on leadership approval: 1. Relocation Support: up to $18,500 for recruits within North America and up to $25,000 for recruits outside North America. 2. AHS Sponsorship Support if required. 3. Cancer Care Alberta, Alberta Health Services in conjunction with the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary invite applications for a full-time Medical Oncologist position. The successful applicant will become a member of a multidisciplinary cancer program located at the Arthur J. E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre site of the Calgary Zone and will join a team of 29 Medical Oncologists. As a member of our team the candidate will join our staff in bringing the new Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre, the second largest Cancer Facility in North America to clinical operation. The new Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre will engage patients at the centre of a multidisciplinary health system, enabling access to comprehensive cancer care services in a world-class facility. In fact, the extensive scope and integration of cancer care services at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre will make it one of the most comprehensive cancer centres in the world.

The successful applicant will be expected to participate in a multidisciplinary approach to cancer care at the new Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre and will join a team of Oncology Specialists, General Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners and medical support staff. Responsibilities will include provision of clinical services that consists of combination of ambulatory clinics and attending inpatient service duties, direct and indirect patient care. Other responsibilities will include participation in local and provincial tumour team-based activities including clinical case reviews at tumour board rounds, annual, provincial tumour team meetings and local quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives. As a member of Department of Oncology, the candidate will be expected to participate in academic and research activities of the Department.

You must have an MD degree and Canadian specialist certification in Medical Oncology, or the equivalent. You must be eligible for licensure as a specialist by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and for appointment to the medical staff of AHS. Special training and/or a record of academic success in areas such as epidemiology, clinical trials, investigational new drug development, translational research and/or health services research would be desirable.

The successful applicant will be expected to obtain an appointment within the Department of Oncology at the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. Preference will be given to Canadian citizens or those with permanent resident status.
