Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist

Alberta Health Services Edmonton Zone, Cardiac Sciences in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology invites applications for an Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist to be based at the Mazankowski Heart Institute, located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the worlds top 50 medical schools and as one of Canadas premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to more than 38,000 students with more than 15,000 faculty and staff.

Edmonton Zone Cardiac Services provide patient care to mid and northern Alberta as well as Northern BC and Northern Canada. This is a very busy program providing services including Cardiac Intensive Care, Cardiac Catheterization and Angioplasty in labs providing elective and emergency evaluation and treatment including complex PCI, CTO PCI and involvement in a regional STEMI program. Device Implantation is carried out as part of the Arrhythmia services program and includes pacemakers, AICD, and CRT. Full service ECHO/TEE and stress ECHO are performed. There is an active clinic setting for Complex Heart Failure patients, Arrhythmia and Device clinic. Members are actively involved in Clinical Research and clinical teaching of student/Residents and Fellows.

The successful applicant will be expected to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague Appointment in the Department of Medicine, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be an MD (or equivalent) with certification in Cardiology with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). Preference will be given to candidates who have completed an Advanced Heart Failure Cardiology Fellowship and obtained Royal College Certification in Cardiac Intervention through a recognized AFC program.
