The Swift Current Area has a wonderful opportunity for an Ophthalmologist in a community based, fee-for-service practice to provide service to a large referral base comprising of Swift Current and its environs and to build a busy practice. The area and division are committed to assisting our members to achieve a balanced lifestyle.
The specialist will join us in an independent, fee-for-service, community based Ophthalmology practice and will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team providing a wide scope of Ophthalmology services for the growing population of Swift Current and its environs.
Call coverage and outpatient clinic services is a requirement for the position. In addition to fee-for-service, you would be eligible for any on-call retainer consistent with the Specialist Emergency Coverage Program.
The successful candidate will join our team to provide comprehensive Ophthalmology services to the patients of southwest Saskatchewan at the Cypress Regional Hospital. The scope of practice includes inpatient, outpatient care, emergency consults and specialist on-call coverage.
Job Qualifications
The successful candidate will hold certification or be eligible for certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) in Ophthalmology. Applicants will be eligible for provisional or regular licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) to practice in Saskatchewan.
This individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care.
In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada. The start dates for this position is immediately. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Swift Current, the fifth largest city in the province of Saskatchewan, has a population of 18,000 residents serving approximately 50,000 people in the surrounding area. It is situated along the Trans-Canada Highway 170 kilometers west of Moose Jaw, and 218 kilometers east of Medicine Hat, Alberta. In addition, Swift Current boasts some of the mildest winters in Saskatchewan and we are one of the top spots in North America for annual sunshine!
The Cypress Regional Hospital provides a variety of services including, but not limited to Emergency, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, on-site Radiology, Pathology services and an intensive care unit. The Regional Hospital also provides satellite Renal Dialysis and a Community Oncology Outreach Program. Secondary services, such as Ophthalmology, Urology, and visiting specialists such as Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) and Orthopedics are also offered in Swift Current. The Cypress Regional Hospital has 91 acute care beds and is the flagship for acute care in the south west area and supports the community hospitals and their communities to deliver services together.
