The community of Yorkton, located in Southeast Saskatchewan, is seeking a team orientated and professional General Surgeon to join the department of surgery. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to operate their own private practice in the community as well as work collaboratively with other medical professionals to support the acute care and emergency services Yorkton.
The Yorkton Regional Health Centre is a fully accredited 86 inpatient bed hospital equipped with 4 OR suites. In-patient units include: Medicine, pediatrics, surgery, intensive care unit, and obstetrics with a well-baby nursery. Outpatient services include: Emergency Department, hemodialysis, chemotherapy, diagnostics, psychiatry and mental health.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the educational needs of medical students, residents, nursing staff and allied health professionals. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to become involved in the academic efforts in the Department of Surgery in our area.
This position will remain open until filled and may be filled prior to the posted closing date
Job Qualifications
– Certified or eligible to be certified with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in General Surgery
– Regular or provisional licence with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (or eligible to be licensed)
– Valid driver’s licence
– Successful SHA credentialing including but not limited to acceptable reference checks and criminal record check with vulnerable sector
– Current Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage
– Legal entitlement to work in Canada
The successful candidate may be eligible for:
- The Specialist Recruitment Incentive program, which provides $30,000 to an eligible specialist that establishes a practice for a minimum of thirty-six months in a Saskatchewan community.
- The SMA Retention Fund, which provides a financial reward to physicians who practice in the province for extended periods ranging from $7,000 – $14,000 per year for full-time work
