Back up ED call compensation

We are an RNPGA and our ED on call doc is paid by MOH stipend. We currently don’t have a formal ‘back-up call’ system, but are considering it. The question is regarding compensation for the back-up call doc.. What would be the rate payable to the back-up call doc and where would the $ come from? Wondering if other sites are currently offering compensation for back-up call, if you can share your model. Thanks!

Hi Ann, In Dryden we are a FHO with a separate AFA for ER work. The second on call stipend is provided in the agreement; I will find out what that pays. It may be worth reaching out to Pat Delf in Red Lake to see what they provide.

We only keep a official ER back-up during the period of time where we have solo coverage in the ER (21:30-10:30). We pay $400 for that, plus call back @ $210.00/hour. Scheduling wise it is generally paired with an ER shift that starts at 10:30.
