PEI has attended this conference on an annual basis – and we will be attending again in 2020. We’ve found good interest in terms of locums, and just this past year, we found a full-time hire (just finalizing their letter of offer now)! It’s smaller than FMF, but I would agree that it is more personal and intimate. It’s a great way to get ”on the map” and in front of physicians, students, and residents who may not have otherwise thought of your province or community as a career or locum option.

Hi Paula, our province has a provincial approach to attending this event and other out of province job fairs. In the past myself or another designate from my region would go along with them to be a bilingual representative. I don’t have the names of those that stopped at the booth etc for every year, but based on the Data I had received we have noted that 21 people who visited the booth have either worked in our region or elsewhere in the province. There are an additional 3 people who went to the booth who are currently in residency in our province. I didn’t go through the data completely to confirm if those that visited the booth were from Manitoba or out of province, if they locumed, etc. However, based on what data I did have this was a better job fair to attend then the others if you are looking for family physicians. Its a much smaller job fair then FMF but its family orientated, has a relaxed environment, and feels like you can talk more to the people who stop at your booth than FMF.

HI Paula, I have attended the event for the past three years. Not the busiest event but we seem to always obtain a couple of physicians (Residents) seeking locum tenens upon completion of their residency. We have hired two this way as locums but none yet as full time.

Our attending this event is also ”exposure” to the candidates, local physicians in our communities and our Communities whom seem to think that we ”Physician Recruiters’ do nothing to attempt to recruit physicians to our rural communities.

We will be attending the 2020 event in Ottawa in April and I am hoping to also bring along a community representative.

Have a great day.
Denise

Hi, Paula! I haven’t been personally but feedback we’ve heard about the ROI on this conference has been really positive, particularly in terms of getting locums. Hope that helps!
