Accomodations – Per Diem

Hello,

I am looking into accomodation per diems? Do you do this? If so how much? Does the physician make booking arrangements and invoices for the per diem rate? I’ve looked online and only found 3 examples of this being done. It ranged due to province, as well as high and low season. I’d appreciate any input.
Thanks,
Shannon

HealthForceOntario administers 3 locum programs (specialists, emergency medicine, and family medicine). There is some support through these provincially funded initiatives – http://www.healthforceontario.ca/en/Home/Physicians/Training_%7C_Practising_in_Ontario/Locum.

I think a few of the other provinces/territories have similar locum programs. For example, BC has a rural family med program – http://www.health.gov.bc.ca/pcb/rural_locum.html.

We do not pay for accommodations in our province here on PEI. We offer a locum support stipend of $150.00 a day for each day worked which offsets the costs of accommodations and car rental. This is given to the physician at the end of their locum when they complete the Locum Support Stipend Form. We do not get into booking the accommodations but we direct them to our web site and provide them with the options.
